Life After Racing  > Standardbred Incentive Program

In 2022, the USTA launched SIP, the Standardbred Incentive Program, which recognizes Standardbreds participating in disciplines other than racing. Riders and drivers who take a registered Standardbred to a show or endurance ride in the US or Canada can submit results to accumulate points for year-end awards. A formula determines the number of points earned based on the horse's placing, the number of entries in the class and whether it is a Standardbred-only or open class. The show season runs from December 1 through November 30 annually. There is also recognition for those that trail ride/drive.

If you have a current USTA membership (free for those under 18 years old) participation in SIP is free. Non-members can also participate by purchasing a Non-member Season Pass for the Show Season. Horse enrollment (free) is also required and allows you to designate a show name for your horse if you do not show him/her under their registered name. You do not need to be the owner of record of your horse to participate. Show results are reported electronically, through a USTA MyAccount, as a rider/driver and horse combination; therefore, a USTA MyAccount needs to be set up for each person participating with a horse.

Tutorials

The USTA has created step-by-step tutorials for setting up and navigating SIP in MyAccount.
